Music on the Green Series – July 2nd, 2017
Featuring the very popular Wayne Henderson and Herb Key. This free concert is presented by the Museum of Ashe County History. All Music on the Green Concerts start at 3pm. Concerts will be held on the Museum Green beside the old courthouse In case of rain, concerts will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church at 201 South Avenue, Jefferson.

Historic Grassy Creek Tour – September 16th, 2017
The tour bus will leave the museum at 9:30 and drive to the Grassy Community. We will point out historic buildings along the way, stop at the Grassy Creek Methodist Church, and talk about the historic community of Grassy Creek. After the tour we will stop at Shatley Springs where participants are welcome to shop or have lunch on their own. Autumn Leaf Festival – October 7, 2017
This year’s Autumn Leaf Festival will be October 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This is a celebration of heritage lifeways and we will have people demonstrating a number of skills such as spinning, weaving, apple cider making, and more. We will also have antique tractors and an antique steam engine. Special programming for kids includes arts and crafts, a hay maze and train rides. We will also have traditional music on the stage. Celebrate Spring – April 28th
We have had a small taste of Spring in late February and early March, but we aren’t fooled. We know that we will likely have some more cold weather before Spring arrives; but arrive it will, and the Museum is celebrating the arrival of Spring. Flag Retirement Ceremony – June 14th
Flag Day is June 14th -- what a perfect time to retire flags that have outlived their usefulness. Bring your old, tattered American flags to the Museum of Ashe County History so that they may be respectfully retired. Local Girl Scouts and Veterans will conduct a ceremony to retire American flags. The public is welcome to attend.
